Timing is everything (ride the shoulder seasons)
What ever you do, don't go riding a motorbike in Norway in the last three weeks of July!
This is the time when everyone in Norway is on holiday. The roads are way more crowded than normal, and prices are at a 12-months-high. And believe it or not, the weather in the south may be too hot for a comfortable ride wearing proper protection clothing.

In spring time, below 600m altitude and south of Trondheim, mid May to end June is a great time to travel. Blooming of fruit trees alongside the fjords are at its best, and the great waterfalls along many of the Bikers Routes are at its fullest, provding spectatcular views and photoshoot opportunities. If you are going further north or higher up in the mountains, it may be a good idea to postpone until mid june.
And don't forget the autumn. The two last weeks in September can be fantastic for driving in the all-coloured nature, and the avearge day temperature is normally still ok for going on a motorbike.

Taking the ferries
To see some of the best parts of Norway and to fully experience the fjords, taking a ferry is mandatory.
It may sound scary if you have never traveled one before on a motorbike, but don't hesitate to try. The crew on the ferry will guide you in how to park your bike, and everything else you need to know. For more ferry details and schedules, please refer to the map.
